Vision Guided Robotics (VGR) provides a robot with information about its environment:
- 3d location and orientation of objects
- Position and dimensions of object features
- Type, quality, measurement of objects and their features
VGR means robots:
- Are "adaptive" and work better in realistic manufacturing environments
- Can make "intelligent" decisions and prevent costly mistakes
Multiple Camera 2D (Xi2D™)
Xi2D is used for 2D robot guidance & part inspection using one or more cameras. 2D information is calculated in 3 degrees of freedom, (x, y, Rz). Applications include vision recognition for the presence or absence of parts and part ID barcodes.

Inferential Depth Measurement 2.5D (IDM2.5D™)
IDM2.5D™ calculates information for 2.5D robot guidance with a single camera. This is used in situations that require information for 4 degrees of freedom, (x,y,z, Rz). Applications include palletizing, part transfer and moving line tracking.

Single Camera 3D (SC3D™)
SC3D™ is Robotic VISION Technologies' award-winning Single-Camera 3D technology for calculating vision information in 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, x, Rx, Ry, Rz) with a single image. SC3D used advanced feature qualification to find objects in imperfect images, takes up little space on end-of-arm tooling units and runs extremely fast training and calibration cycles.
This remarkable technology is used for applications such as racking and de-racking of parts, part assembly and visual line tracking.

Direct Depth 3D (DD3D™)
DD3D™ uses multiple cameras in stereo configuration to calculate direct depth 3D images.

Surround 3D (SR3D™)
SR3D™ combines image information from multiple cameras surrounding large parts from different viewpoints. The 3D positions of parts, such as car bodies, are calculated in full 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, x, Rx, Ry, Rz). Possible applications for SR3D include the fastening of jet engine cowlings.

Stuctured Light 3D (SL3D™)
SL3D™ projects lines of structured light onto rigid, smooth and curved surfaces, which create features for determining part locations. 3D part position and location information is calculated in full 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, x, Rx, Ry, Rz). Applications for SL3D include automotive body part sealing.

Random Bin Picking(RBP™)
RBP™ random bin picking is the first VGR technology to overcome the challenges of automating systems to locate and move parts randomly placed, and jumbled in generic bins. It provides solutions for problems such as: extreme part overlap and occlusion; significant lights variability and shadowing; shortage of distinct features on parts; and collision avoidance with other parts, tools and bins.
